POSITION: Assistant Executive Housekeeper
The incumbent in this job is responsible for aiding the Executive Housekeeper in managing the Housekeeping Department to maintain the highest level of cleanliness. They oversee and direct all cleaning and maintenance operations on the floors and in the public areas. Closely supervise all procedures connected to ensuring that the guest receives high-quality housekeeping services that are prompt and free of defects. In the absence of the Executive Housekeeper, they are responsible for managing the Housekeeping Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Assistant Executive Housekeepers do well when they closely analyze revenues, expenses, and profits and exceed budgeted figures.
- Hygiene standards are strictly checked and enforced.
- Supervise Housekeeping Department Staff to ensure that visitors and customers, both internal and external, receive prompt and polite service while adhering to hotel standards.
- Daily, allocate chores and special projects to Room Attendants / Public Area Cleaners, monitor progress, and keep the Executive Housekeeper informed.
- Check rooms at random, especially those assigned to VIP, V.V.I.P., and Repeated visitors, and coordinate floral arrangements for these visitors as well as other special requests.
- Inspect floors and public areas to ensure that facilities, equipment, and amenities are clean and well-maintained; verify work conducted by outside contractors to ensure contract compliance; and implement corrective steps to satisfy Kempinski standards.
- Participate in hiring new employees by screening and interviewing candidates.
- Identify the department’s training needs, establish a training plan, and obtain Executive Housekeeper approval before implementing the training.
- Keep the Housekeeping Staff aware of daily operational activities and challenges, and give them all information pertinent to their work requirements.
- Anticipate and maintain all equipment and supplies, ensuring their availability. Control the use of all amenities and cleaning materials to ensure budget compliance and the appropriate use of equipment and tools.
- Handle feedback and requests from guests and other departments to ensure their satisfaction. Make recommendations to the Executive Housekeeper about how to improve the Housekeeping Department’s services.
- Keep track of housekeeping practices such as Lost and Found, Key Control, Security and Emergency, and Health and Safety for staff and guests.
- Participate in a variety of housekeeping chores, including general cleaning, which needs scheduling, inspections, record keeping, follow-up, and coordination with other departments.
- Assist the Executive Housekeeper in preparing the annual manning guide, CAPEX budget, and departmental budget to fulfill company objectives.
- Attend meetings, write reports, keep a daily record, and perform other administrative activities as assigned.
- Additional responsibilities and tasks may be added at any moment based on the demands of the business and the hotel.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
- A college degree or its equivalent in Hotel Administration or Management.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a housekeeping management position, especially at a 5-star hotel.
- Capacity to work and communicate in a multinational setting:
- English: good oral and writing capabilities
- Additional language is useful.
- Operational understanding of housekeeping equipment and machines, such as washing machines, dry cleaners, and pressing machines.
- Knowledge of how to clean different fabrics
- Knowledge of chemicals
- Knowledge and skills in cleaning techniques
- Knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and machines.
- Knowledge of housekeeping practices and standards.
- Knowledge of Opera PMS.
- Microsoft Office Applications
