  • Nigerian Citizenship: Applicants for this scholarship should be Nigerian citizens.
  • Undergraduate Applicants: Candidates for the Area of Operation Scholarship must come from Bayelsa, Delta, Imo or Rivers States and should be first year degree students. Also, first year students from any Nigerian state may apply for National Merit Scholarship.
  • Postgraduate Applicants: They should have completed their undergraduate studies in relevant fields. Please note that only 30 students are selected annually for postgraduate scholarship.
  • Academic Focus: Disciplines such as Engineering, Geosciences, Petroleum and Environmental Technology and Petroleum Law should be pursued during post graduate study.

Note: For undergraduate scholarships, candidates who are currently in 200 level or above are not eligible while graduates applying for postgraduate scheme must have completed their first degree.
